Upgrading and Pairing Wands
The Automated Tools
There are command line tools that can be used to upgrade and pair wands with the glasses. They automate the processes for these two cases.
Preparation
To successfully use the wand pairing or upgrading tools:
- The glasses need to be plugged in.
- No Tilt Five-enabled applications should be running in the background.
1. Upgrading Wand firmware
To upgrade a wand, run upgrade-wand.bat.
The tool will prompt for any required user input. Following the prompt will update the wand and the output will look something like the following:
The wand will reboot and the status LED will exhibit the “fast red blink” pairing behavior.
2. Pairing Wands With the Glasses
To pair newly-minted upgraded wands with the glasses, run pair-wand.bat.
The tool will prompt the user with the required pairing key button sequence. The button sequence is randomly generated, so the one in the screenshot below will not work.
At this point, the wand and glasses have exchanged a host key and the glasses are now in “host pairing mode”.

I Want a Do-Over!
If a wand powers on with the fast-blink red indicator, it is unpaired.
If a wand powers on with the steady red indicator, it has been paired and has a key.
To put a wand back into pairing mode from the “has key” state, press and hold X and B, then press and hold the Sys button.
